Jimmy Johnson, was Kelley's adoring husband, and loving dad to Jeff. God took him home, while he was watching golf, Sunday afternoon February 16th born and raised in Seattle, lived in California and settled in Brentwood, Tennessee. Jimmy left home the day after his 18th birthday to follow his dreams, and flew to L.A. He loved music and everything about it!!
He wasn't a musician, but Jimmy sure was a legend in the concert touring, touring world. He began his career in production, as a lighting designer and production manager. He was most well known in this "business of music" as a Tour Manager! He loved touring! And, for 58 of his 76 years, he toured with many many well-known artists who took him around the world dozens of times...
He loved being a Tour Manager. He was known for his unmatched ability to keep everything running smoothly, behind the scenes of concert chaos. His meticulous attention to detail, calm demeanor and honesty made him the cornerstone of all his tours. He treated everyone with respect, from the runners to drivers to crews to venue staff. He was known as just a nice guy and pleasure to work with.
Promoters, manager and agents loved working with Jimmy Johnson! They referred to him as a comfort! When they knew he was the Tour Manager on their date, all would be ok. He relieved all stress, when he sat across the table at settlement. He was tough and fair at the same time. He corrected their accounting mistakes with a kind nudge, even when it was to their advantage.
Jimmy didn't really have a favorite artist, but many artists called the Johnson's, family. Some of his memorable tours and holidays were spent with Faith Hill, Meat Loaf, Josh Groban, Prince, Julian Lennon, The Everly Brothers, Trace Adkins, Chicago, Benatar-Giraldo, Elvis, Andre Bocelli, James Taylor, The Eagles and with his dear friend Lindsey Buckingham. Many of these fun times were spent at 'off the beaten path' steak, and LOTS of Indian restaurants, that were his secrets. He loved to laugh and eat great dinners with friends.
Jimmy was devoted to his Kitty Cats, Georgia and Valentine. He leaves a huge extended family, nieces & nephews and their families in Memphis and Texas & Seattle. He loved being with his in-laws (especially Kelley's 'momma, Alma'). He enjoyed going to restaurants with Jeff and getting to know our new daughter in-law, Cassy, whom he called 'Darlin'.
Those, that Jimmy left with broken hearts, are his son Jeffrey (Cassy), his sister Lori (Scott Stubberfield and, most of all his wife Kelley, the Love of his life, advocate & partner. We also remember his family that have passed, parents George and Mary Jane, and siblings Bob & Pat Johnson Leago, of Seattle, father in Law, George Crone, Jr. of Memphis. A special "Thank you" to Terence Graves, Jimmy's CareBuddy whom he called his "new best friend." A true Angel.
We Love You, Jimmy Johnson. Our world will never be the same without you.
Jimmy loved springtime and sunflowers, azaleas, roses and hydrangeas. He loved his yard and garden. He also loved LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis and Johnson Chapel Church in Brentwood.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be on Wednesday May 28th", from 3pm to 6pm. Jimmy's Goodbye Tribute will begin at 4pm, at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home on 660 Thompson Lane, in Nashville Tennessee.
