
She is survived by brothers Carroll McPherson (Martine) and Gerald McPherson (Teresa); nieces Christa Kelso (Monty), Donna Smoot, Patty Sheller (John) and Kim Slight (Matt); nephews Lanny McPherson (Joyce), Shannon McPherson (Martha) and Jeff Miller (Amy); and Shirley McPherson (Donald). Jo’s sister Guyla Miller and husband H.C. preceded her in death. Great nieces and nephews, friend Joanne Loggins and longtime friend Milo Liggett also survive her.
Jo was born March 6, 1933, in Logan County, Ky. She graduated from Chandlers High School in 1952 and moved to Nashville to begin a career at National Life and Accident Insurance Company. She also worked at the Grand Ole Opry. She made friends wherever she worked and was loved by everyone. Jo loved all sports, especially the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team, the Dallas Cowboys and Vanderbilt Commodores. She was a member of West End Church of Christ.
Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9:30 – 11 a.m. at West End Church of Christ, followed by a celebration of life service at 11 a.m.
Visitation at Plainview General Baptist Church in Auburn, Ky., will begin at 3 p.m., followed by a graveside service at Plainview Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Vanderbilt Center for Quality Aging at VUMC Gift and Donor Services 2525 West End Ave., Suite 450, Nashville or Belmont Village Senior Living 4206 Stammer Place, Nashville.
