

MCCLUNEY, Joe Alfred, Jr. “Al” age 53, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at his home after a warrior’s fight with cancer. Born March 12, 1959, in Ozark, AL. Graduate of the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing where he was a member of Sigma Na Fraternity and Mu Kappa Tau Marketing Scholastic Honor Society. After college graduation Al worked at Caesar’s Casino in Lake Tahoe for a short while before moving to Nashville to work with the Cain-Sloan Co. as a sales manager and buyer. He continued his sales career working with Moore Business Forms and presently with WorkflowOne, where he enjoyed a successful career consistently exceeding sales goals, working up until his final day. Married June 7, 1986, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, to Laura Hines. Preceded in death by his mother Margaret Locke McCluney. Survived by wife Laura Hines McCluney; children Margaret Joyce, Mary Alexis and Louis Joseph McCluney; father Joe A. McCluney of Jasper, AL; sisters Sandra Griggs (Alan) and Juddie Sayles (John). Attending all events and activities his children were involved with, watching his beloved Crimson Tide football team, spending time at the family cottage in Gulf Shores, AL, attending family gatherings, and spending time with friends brought joy to Al. He was an excellent cook, being most proud of his pizzas and smoked turkeys! Al was an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church where he attended Sunday School Classes, worked on the Easter breakfast committee, and served on various church committees. Al was a Big Buddy with Buddies of Nashville, he served as a Jr. Varsity basketball coach at St. Edward School, enjoyed working concession stands at the Titans games and was proud to help carry the Father Ryan High School Relay for Life Survivors’ banner for three years. Visitation will be held Friday, August 3, 2012 from 4- 7 pm at St Edward Catholic Church with a Vigil service at 7 pm conducted by Rev. Joseph Patrick Breen. A second visitation will be held Saturday August 4, 2012, at Calvary United Methodist Church from 9-11 am with a memorial service at 11 am. conducted by Rev. Steve Angus. Honorary pallbearers John Ault, Tom Ellis, Doug Farris, John Geer, Rob Rice, Haig Wright and posthumously, Mark Dreifke.
