

John R. Hooton, Jr., age 75, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Mr. Hooton was the son of the late John Robert Hooton, Sr. and Evelyn Ehrhard Hooton and also preceded in death by his sister, Berthan Smith. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth H. Hooton; daughter, Whitney Anna Helm and her husband, William; sons, John R. Hooton, III and Kyle W. Hooton; and granddaughter, Sarah Brackin Hooton. Funeral services will be at 3:00 o’clock the afternoon of Tuesday, September 21, 2010, in the Stanford Chapel at First Presbyterian Church with Sandra Randleman officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Hooton was born in Nashville, on January 26, 1935 and attended Duncan Preparatory School, graduated from Battle Ground Academy and The University of Tennessee, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church and Richland Country Club. Mr. Hooton was a long standing citizen in the Nashville business community as a successful entrepreneur. Active pallbearers will be John Robert Hooton, III, Kyle W. Hooton, William J. Helm, Warren Tardy, Jim Christain, and Thompson B. Patterson, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Phil Anderson, O.B. Thomason, Ed McDaniel, Tom Price, Harold Bradley, Jack Heldman, Dan Andrews, Al Littleton, and Billy Hancock. A very special thank you to Pat Ridley and the Staff of Alive Hospice for their loving care for John. Visitation will be from 1:00 till 3:00 o’clock the afternoon of Tuesday, September 21 in the Cheek House at First Presbyterian Church.
