I’m in shock my buddy,my pal, my friend has passed my heart is in pain I just found out today 11-6-18 I worked with David at Richland Village and he was one who always had your back if you got a chance to work in the same cottage with him it was smooth sailing. And thank you David you always told me diet soda is the best and you were right. You’re still my friend and our paths will cross again Rest In Peace my buddy, my pal.

Dave and I were close friends once many years ago. We worked together at Richland Village, lived in apartments in an old house on Central Avenue, shot guns, took canoe trips. Those were great times in the summer of our lives. Drank a bunch of beers, went to Mardi Gras, I could tell a bunch of stories. He was an awesome guy and I am sorry to say that I just found out he passed. We had lost touch years ago, it is the way life is unfortunately.

David.  I remember you from Richland Village.  I remember at lunch in the dining room, you were always the one eying everybody else's tray, to check out and see if they got anything tasty that hadn't been set out when you went through the line.  I remember you salting your pizza!  We teased you that you'd salt ANYTHING if you'd salt pizza.  I remember you crumbling up your corn bread into the buttermilk because you said that was they way you're supposed to eat it.  And I especially remember the stories you'd tell there at lunch time about your dad, after he moved in with you.  How you could hear him clinking around the house with his portable oxygen, always quick to point out to you what you â€œorterâ€ do around the house â€“ you orter stake those tomatoes, you orter trim those bushes, you orter paint that trim.  

I remember when you and Diane married, your lovely wedding reception at Two Rivers Mansionâ€¦..how nervous and happy you were!  And I remember a time, later, when you came into the main office along with Diane who was carrying one of your babies â€“ I think the first one â€“ who was fast, fast asleep, and you were carrying a big old baby puppy (was it â€œBearâ€?  I think it was â€œBearâ€), also fast, fast asleep.  Baby and puppy, they both looked so much alike!  Well, I guess you're reunited now, with Bear and also Tarkis and your dad and even Mike Dowell and Ms. Wynn and Ralph, and so many others.  How good it has been to know you, David, to share these memories and so many more.

My deepest sympathizes to Dianna and Megan. Dave and I would often see each other in the hallway at work. He "always" had a smile on his face and shared a friendly conversation. He would do anything to help out a friend in need. Things will not be the same. 

He will be highly missed and often thought about.

All of us who had the privilege to know David, knew a Man who loved unconditionally.  Our family was truly blessed for having known David, and for being very fortunate to have shared many memorable times with him, Diane, Chelsea, Megan and many other friends and family members.  We had so many good times together!  It was truly bitter-sweet hearing the eulogies talking to some of the children who are now adults and some with kids of their own, share, and talk about some of those times (Halloween Hay Rides, Pool Parties, the Camping Trip, or the most common reason - just because).  David was quietly pivotal helping Diane ensure everyone, especially the kids had a good time, and he was always there when you needed a helping hand.  It was bitter-sweet hearing the stories, because David will be missed! He was loved by many, and he truly loved everyone!  The following two bible verses make me think of David and I humbly thought I would share them.  

1 John 3:18 Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.

John 14:1-3
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."

Our deepest condolences...  the Combs' Clan - Charley, Karla, Rebecca, Kyle, Kirstin, Kevin, Tyler and Aubree.

I spent a significant part of my childhood at Uncle David and Aunt Dianne's house. They always had fun things going on there. Chelsea and Megan were two of my best friends growing up. 

He was truly a great person. He always had a funny joke or story to tell at our family Christmas party. Jamie and I will really miss you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. David and all of you with the Donelson Civitan crew have been my friends since we met on the softball fields all those years ago. Again I'm truly sorry for your loss.

I went to high school with David, Harpy as we called him.  We were in band and chorus together  He was such a sweet guy, always smiling. He was very talented and so fun to be with.  I never remember seeing him angry. To his family, I am so sorry for your loss.  I know you all must be devastated.

Every Monday morning (if it was a decent weekend) Dave would ask me if I "got out on the water".  He even said I was crazy that cold, windy, 2 foot waves weekend.  And I agreed.  Anyway, I'd say yep, and of course the conversation would go like...any luck?  Yep, I caught 'em all on a chartreuse spinner bait.  Just about every fish I caught last year was on that bait, anyway, he got wise to it by fall, beat me to the punch and laugh more than me about it.  I think he was happier than me when I told him I caught my biggest bass last year on a...nope, not that bait, but a black buzz bait.  I can see him laughing about it now.  I'm gonna miss ya buddy, and I'll think about you every time I tie on a....  yep...chartreuse spinner bait.

Praying for you and your family Meg.  Mr Dave was a fine man and  I feel honored and blessed to have known him.

What a truly nice man. I will miss seeing him smile.

I will miss seeing Dave's smiling face each morning and have enjoyed knowing such a great man. So sorry for you loss. He will be terribly missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

David will always be remembered as a "genuine" and kind person. I am happy to say that David and I became friends and worked together for the last 12 years. I will always remember David for his  friendship and storytelling. Most of all , I will remember David for the words that he used every time any of us were hanging out with him. At some point , while having a conversation with David he would sayâ€¦..â€Love you manâ€,  he meant it and we knew he meant it.
Our hearts and prayers go out to Diane ,Chelsey , Meagan and grand baby. May god bless you all.

Dave will always be remembered as a kind and friendly person. He always had a warm smile and a heart felt "hello" for everyone.  It was a real pleasure working working with him.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family as they cope with their loss.

Sad news about an old friend today, but the many fun times we had together is what I remember the most.  Rest in peace my old friend David!

Di, Chels and Meg, so sorry for your loss, he is in a better place now. I know that doesn't make the hurting any easier. Dave was a wonderful man and friend to many.
