

Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Hamilton V Gayden and Ann Dickinson Gayden, his brothers, John O. 'Jack' Gayden, and William 'Dick' Gayden, and niece, Kelly Gayden.
Joseph was an accomplished fine arts sculptor. His sculptures were exhibited in fine art galleries in Banner Elk, North Carolina; Venice Beach and Sarasota, Florida; and most recently in Nashville, Leiper's Fork, and Dickson, TN.
Joseph also worked in music production and managed Quadraphonics Studio in Nashville, TN in the mid 80's.
Joseph attended Peabody Demonstration School, in Nashville, TN. He attended Ole Miss on a basketball scholarship and UT Knoxville, where he majored in Political Science and Art History.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 35 years, Phyllis 'Missy ' Gayden and son, Zachary Harris-Gayden; brothers Hamilton V. Gayden, Sr, (Paulette Gayden),
McGavock 'Mac' Gayden (Diane Gayden) and sister Ida Gayden Ezell (John Ezell).
Joseph is survived by his neices and nephews, Bill Gayden, Beth Gayden, John Gayden, Douglas Gayden, Henry Gayden, Jordan Gayden, Hamilton Gayden, Jr., Claiborne Gayden, Whitney Lawson Hissong, McGavock Gayden, Jr., Kathryn Gayden Krispin, Kimberly Gayden, and Oceana Gayden Sheehan.
Joseph will be remembered for his talent, passion for politics, love for sports, music, and the arts.
He was loved dearly by all. The memories we carry and his beautiful art will keep his spirit alive forever.
