Like many others, I found Josh at a point in my life when I needed help. He helped me in crisis and continued to be a sounding board who found the best in me when I couldn't see it in myself. Josh brought light to the world and we are all a little dimmer with his loss. My sincerest condolences to his wife, friends, and family.

I worked with Josh at Saddleback Church--and he was always so very passionate and dedicated to his work with students. I have followed him on Instagram and was so very proud of his accomplishments over these last several years. I am truly so sorry to hear of his passing. I have been praying for his family and loved ones and want to be sure that you know how very loved and admired and appreciated he was at Saddleback. He was such a kind, calm and loving person. 


I remember Josh coming home with me for holiday during college. We laughed, we tried all the new things and some of the old. He was passionate about his friends and was always up to be a part of stupidity.
I remember right before he was diagnosed with narcolepsy. we were sitting in class together. I just thought he was like me, always tired in class by the afternoon. We all joked as he was falling asleep in class again and I held a pen in front of his face as it slipped down the roller ball and he ended with a line down the middle of his face. The next day the dr. told him and I felt horrified, but he reassured me and we laughed about it and found joy in the little things. He is missed so much . I'm so sorry. I wish I could be there. I am grieving and praying and crying with you. This is not the end.

I am so heart broken at the loss of Joshua, I watched both Joshua and Caleb grow by being associated with their Daddy John who is my Dearest Friend !! I shared alot of Family events  with the whole  Family , Hollidays  Easter July the 4th most all Josh had the kindest  most Loving Heart especially to his Brother Caleb . Joshua you will be missed and loved by so many !! I Love you Buddy so  many prayers and Love being sent to Penny , Caleb, John  and the rest of the Family on both sides !!!! 

Since hearing the news of Josh's passing last night, I've gone back and forth about what I wanted to say or how I would say it, just that I knew I wanted to say something. So many memories of my formative years have him in them, from watching Wrestling PPVs at his Aunts house to picking up a guitar for the first time together, to being homebound my Junior year after back surgery, and Josh coming by to check on me when I got home from the hospital. JW is intricately etched in my memories. Many people didn't realize my struggles in my teen years with depression. Josh did and was often my solitude when I would talk about how I was feeling. He never made me feel less than when the many times I did. He would listen and be there when I needed to vent. 

Josh had this fire about him—this essence about him, like in the great stories that jump off the page at you. I couldn't figure it out. How could someone be so charismatic yet so humble? So one day, I asked Josh his story, and this is when he first shared the news of Jesus Christ with me. Man, he was on fire for Christ! He worked on me for the better part of a year to join him at Trinity to see this electric guy named Mark Shelly. There I would meet so many people my age who had this same fire about them that he had. I was hooked. I wanted to know more and learn more.  

Josh led me to give my life to Christ and led me in the sinner's prayer. His excitement for me was evident, and when Pastor Davis baptized me, Josh was one of the first to hug me after the service. 

I hope you are resting easy, Brother, and know I am a better man because of you.

My brother Josh was an amazing friend and buddy.  From playing trumpet together at BC, to FCA, to ministry.  I remember Josh being ordained as a minister and our conversation about the Word. Time caused there to be a distance but he was simply a great brother.  I love you and thanks for our friendship. See you in heaven get a good praise in for me.

I went to school with Josh from elementary school until high school. We were good friends in middle school.  I fondly remember a birthday celebration at his house when we were on middle school. I am saddened to hear this news. 

In a season of life that can be heavy and tumultuous for most teens, Josh brought levity and joy and goodness to the lives of my friends and me. In the early 2000’s he was an intern and leader at our middle school youth group, and I am so very grateful my life crossed paths with his. He taught me — both explicitly and through his own example — not to take myself too seriously and to treat others with kindness no matter what. And while I have carried those values with me since then, I have also heard his voice pop into my head regularly throughout the past two decades, singing the Sloppy Joe song :) He will forever be someone who made the world, and own my life, better.

I'm so sorry for the loss of Josh.  Praying for all of you 

Joshua was always the smile you could see from across the room. Growing up with him was so fun and full of laughs. Praying for Mrs Penny and Caleb and all his family.

So incredibly saddened by the news of Josh’s passing. Josh was a refuge for me at a critical point in my life and I will miss him dearly. My condolences to all of his family and friends. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
