

Kenneth Ray Harrington, Sr., born in Nashville, TN, on August 10, 1925, passed away on February 16, 2017. Preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jean Ralston Harrington; and grandson, Sean Ford. Survived by his son, Kenneth Ray (Karen) Harrington, Jr.; daughter, Brenda Jean (Ronnie) Oeser; grandchildren, Tanya Davis and Denise Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Zoe Davis, Madilyn Davis, Sage Johnson, and Zane Johnson. Ray served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946. Ray received his B.E. from Vanderbilt, his MSPH from the University of Michigan, and D.J. from the Nashville School of Law. He served as Director of Metro Water Services. After retiring from Metro, he served as the Sr. Vice President of Consoer Townsend Engineers. In addition to serving as President of several professional organizations, he received many awards from both professional and civic organizations. The Mayor and Metropolitan Council of Nashville honored him by naming the new water treatment plant the K.R. Harrington Water Treatment Plant. Ray was named Resident of the Year at Richland Place in 2005 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the National Association of Clean Water Agencies in 2010. None of these accomplishments would have been possible without the devotion of his loving wife, Dorothy Jean Ralston Harrington. Graveside services will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park on Monday, February 20, 2017, at one o’clock in the afternoon.
