7/30/1942 - 1/15/2026
Kerry Lynn Morell (née Roper), age 83, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the end of a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 30, 1942, also in Nashville, she remained deeply rooted in the community that shaped her life and faith.
Kerry was a devoted Christian woman whose life was marked by unwavering faith, steadfast love for her family, and a gentle spirit that touched everyone she met. She was a loving wife to Owen Morell, her husband of 63 years. Together they built a life centered around family, raising four children: Timothy Morell (Kelli), Tracy Morell Good, Kelly Morell, and Kevin Morell (Lauren). Her legacy continues through her ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her influence is also still felt in the lives of her sister, Vallorie Hayes, and brother, Stephen Roper, as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews.
While she began her work career at Nashville Bank & Trust and then Third National Bank, Kerry truly began her professional journey in the 1970s at Lifeway Christian Resources (formerly The Southern Baptist Sunday School Board) where she worked alongside colleagues who became cherished lifelong friends. Her time there reflected not only her dedication to meaningful work but also her ability to form deep and lasting friendships.
A faithful member of The Donelson Fellowship, Kerry found joy and purpose in service. She had a special bond with the friends in her Life Group and spent many years volunteering in the baby and toddler nurseries at church. Known affectionately by her daughter as "The Baby Whisperer," Kerry had an extraordinary gift for calming little ones with just a touch or a whisper. Her nurturing presence left an indelible mark on countless families within the congregation.
Despite life's challenges, Kerry never wavered in her trust that Our Heavenly Father would work all things for good. Her prayers were a source of strength for those around her, walking with loved ones through difficult times with grace and hope.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepparent, Louise Armstrong, Julian Roper, and W. Charles Armstrong, and her brother, David Roper, as well as two grandsons, Spencer Davis Morell and Samuel Thomas Good.
Kerry Lynn Morell’s life was one of quiet strength, enduring faith, and boundless love. May her memory bring comfort and peace to those who knew and loved her.
