Lee was born June 11, 1955, daughter of Thomas 0. Owen and Nell Stephens Owen. She is survived by loving husband Rev. Mr. James Holzemer, stepson Christopher, and deceased stepson Matthew Holzemer, as well as brother Stephen Owen and wife Martha Owen.
Most who knew Lee understood her fun loving and exuberant nature, especially when it came to canine therapy work with beloved Rafe. Lee excelled in many canine sports, where she could lead Rafe and
later Gordie into action!
Lee lovingly supported my late in life calling to Ordained Ministry and was an excellent Lector at Holy Mass. She was a pretty fair Habitat house worker as well!
Lee lost a truly valiant battle with three separate truly debilitating cancers, all within months. As the cancer progressed to the brain, she bravely helped us bear it with true dignity. I was so very blessed to present her with The Holy Eucharist as she began to lose consciousness. I promised her that she would remain at home, and the wonderful support of Alive Hospice helped us accomplish this.
My older sisters Kit and Barb, as well as her beloved Brother Steve and Marti and my Brother Tom and wife Beth were blessed sources of help throughout. EMS Fire Chief Paul Gilmer provided wonderful help as well. Kit and I cleaned and bathed Lee with great dignity and the beauty of this intimacy will be
something I will ever cherish.
Most touching was that I could sleep next to Lee under a truly lovely Prayer Quilt made by Babs Rector and Sue Lammers and others from Our Lady of The Lake Parish. My Beloved passed with me snuggled next to her. I am so blessedly grateful to Our Loving God for this dearest of gifts.
Services will be Friday, April 22, at St. Ann Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 0930 to 1020, with Mass of Christian Burial at 1030. Those who wish will reconvene in the Parish Life Center after Mass for a catered lunch. A private, family only repose of her Cremains will occur at a later date.
My Thoughts and Prayers go with You who all loved Lee so very dearly.
