Louise attended Southern Seminary in Buena Vista and graduated with a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia. She earned a master’s degree in education from the College of William and Mary. She delighted in teaching math to high school and adult students in Virginia and Tennessee, retiring from Nashville State Technical Institute, now Nashville State Community College.
She faithfully served alongside her husband Charles as he ministered in Southern Baptist churches in Virginia, Maryland, and Tennessee. She was an active member of Brook Hollow Baptist Church for many years, and with her friends there she crocheted baby blankets for a local hospital. With her children and grandchildren, she created memories in the kitchen and around her sewing machine. Her love of sewing and math came together in many beautiful quilts. In her later years, she took pleasure in keeping her bird feeders full and watching the antics of the birds who came to her window.
Louise lived her life with gratitude, encouraging others to “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (I Thessalonians 5:16-18). She was quick with a smile and an encouraging word, and her sweet spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the many nurses and caregivers who cared for her these past few years, especially her dear friend, Mildred Terrell.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on December 3, 2025, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, located at 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN 37204. A celebration of life will follow at 11:30 am at the same location.
