

Loyis Horton, age 84, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at her home in Spring Hill, Tennessee. She was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, in 1942 to Tush and Jack Armstrong, and was raised in Louisville, Kentucky.
Loyis later moved to Nashville, where she raised her family and worked for many years as a secretary at David Lipscomb University. She was a woman of many talents. In addition to becoming a registered folk artist and learning the craft of clockmaking later in life, she was a master seamstress, an avid knitter, and a passionate and accomplished gardener.
Those who knew Loyis will remember her for her kindness, her caring spirit, and her strong Christian faith. She devoted herself to caring for her mother, Tush, until her passing at the age of 102. Loyis also cherished the friendships she formed within the Del Webb community in Spring Hill, and where she found a home in the warmth of the Spring Hill Church of Christ.
She is survived by her son, Denver Horton II; her daughter, Robin Hagen; her sister-in-law, Brenda Armstrong; her grandson, Eric Horton; her granddaughters, Niamh and Wren Hagen; and her niece, Kimberly Hairfield. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Denver Dan Horton; her brother, Jon Armstrong; and her nephew, Jon Armstrong, Jr.
A Gathering of Family & Friends will be held at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204 on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Loyis’s favorite charity, Guyana Missions, supported by the Spring Hill Church of Christ (931) 486-2104.
Loyis was a joyful and loving mother, friend, and neighbor, and her presence will be deeply missed.
