Mrs. Cochrane was born March 28th, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to Margaret and Micheal Nierenberger. As a teenager she moved to Charlotte, Michigan and later married Neil H. Cochrane and together they moved to Lansing Michigan and had 4 children - Mary Jo, Kathleen, Patrick and Julie. In 1972 they moved to Nashville, Tennessee where they settled.
Margaret was first a home maker to her family, and also worked in her husband’s business. Later she worked in several locations at Vanderbilt’s Medical center until she retired after 27 years. Margaret also enjoyed volunteering with Vanderbilt Childrens hospital and the St. Thomas Breast Center.
She had a great love for physical activity and was well known for her early morning runs and long walks all over Vanderbilt’s campus. Margaret was a passionate seamstress and loved to design outfits for herself and family as well as doll clothes for her grandchildren. Her family will remember her as a petite dynamo who could get anything done and also a devoted catholic who is now reunited with her husband. She is survived by her sister Dorothy, her 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
