She graduated from Linden High School, David Lipscomb College, and the University of Tennessee School of Pharmacy. In 1958, Alice started her career as a pharmacist at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, TN. She moved to Stamford, CT in 1966, living there for two years while on a mission trip. After returning to Nashville, she worked at Nashville General Hospital and later became the Director of the Pharmacy there until her retirement in 1998.
She was a longtime member of the Natchez Trace Church of Christ and established many lasting friendships. She met her husband Bobby Crews Green through a former pharmacy employee. They married in 2005 and were married for ten years until Bobby passed away in 2015.
Alice's entire life was filled with helping others in need, including, but not limited to, family, patients, and members of the Nashville and Linden, TN communities. In addition, she had an uncanny ability to recall poetry, trivia, and songs. No matter the situation, she could find a way to burst into song or share a favorite poem on a moment's notice. Alice was incredibly witty and always brightened up the days of those who interacted with her.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Green, parents Bernard Ray and Bonnie Laura DePriest Duncan of Linden, TN and brother Dr Thomas Ray Duncan of Brentwood, TN. Survivors include sister-in-law Judith Buchanan Duncan, nephews Jeff (Shani) Duncan, Darrell (Heather) Duncan, and Kevin (Lindsay) Duncan. She is also survived by stepchildren Tracy (Deborah) Green and Terrie (Cameron) Green Hall, and step-granddaughters Sarah (Anthony) Green Perry and Kayla (Will) Green Bradshaw.
