Mary Ada Howell

Mrs. Mary Ada Harris Howell age 91, of Nashville, TN, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. Mrs. Howell was born in Greenway, Arkansas, educated in the public schools there where her mother was a teacher, then went on for her first year of college at Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas. The following year, she and her sister, Louise, enrolled at Texas State College for Women in Denton, Texas. When she graduated, she accepted a teaching position in Port Arthur, Texas where she met her future husband, Bryant Howell. They were married in 1953, and for the next ten years had a number of homes because of Bryant’s position with Firestone Company. Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Minnie Harris; husband, Bryant Howell; and a sister, Louise Harris Smith. In 1963, they settled in Nashville and never left. They greatly enjoyed their physical home and their church home, Bellevue Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Howell; a grandson, Bryant of FL; sister, Sue Harris (William H.) Hensler of Colorado; brother-in-awl, Robert Smith; and a nephew, Dan Smith. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 17, 2016, at one o’clock, Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall.
