He was the son of the late Gilbert T Riley and Hazel Hartley Riley. He is survived by his wife, Annie V Robinson Riley; daughter Elizabeth Hayes Frisby (Grady); and granddaughters Katherine Marie and Margarett Leann Frisby.
Mel was formerly employed at Yokley Printing and later with Crescent Amusement Company, last managing at Donelson Bowl. He served with the 30th Armored Ordinance Battalion of the Tennessee National Guard for many years.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening, April 9, 2014 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Graveside services will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the afternoon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorials be sent to Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) or Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
