August 18, 1935 – November 13, 2023
Nancy was born in Nashville, TN to Nema Myrtle Patterson Smith and William Edward Smith. She was the youngest of four girls. Nancy resided in west Nashville for 20 years, graduating from Cohn High School and attending Peabody College. She married her grammar school sweetheart, Charles Edward Berlin, in August of 1955.
Charles and Nancy subsequently moved to Miami where Charles attended flight training and worked for Eastern Airlines. Nancy worked for the Federal Aviation Administration. In 1961, they adopted a baby girl and named her Teresa Elizabeth Berlin.
Eastern Airlines transferred Charles to Washington, DC, and then to Denver, CO, where they fell in love with the mountains.
Nancy first worked for the Colorado Baptist Convention and then moved to employment at Riverside Church in the heart of Denver.
Charles Berlin died on January 24, 2000, and Nancy never stopped missing him.
She continued to treasure her daughter, son-in law, and two grandchildren who reside in Los Angeles, CA.
Nancy loved reaching out to others in need and God gave her the unique gift of a servant spirit with a loving and caring heart. She welcomed all into her life no matter what the circumstances were that brought them to her. Having a deep love for the Lord, Nancy believed that God called her to serve at Riverside Church and she continued working full time there for 48 years up until her death.
Denver Services will be held on November 28 at 11:00 am and Nashville services will be held on November 30 at 11:30 am. Nancy will be laid to rest next to the love of her life, Charles, at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Woodlawn-Roesch-PattonFH.com for the Berlin family.
