

Rush, Nancy (née Burns), died November 1, 2016 after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer. Nancy will be remembered by her friends and relatives for her intelligence, charm and elegance. She was a caring and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother (Mimi), and friend. Born in St. Joseph, MO, but grew up in Hancock Park, Los Angeles where she graduated from Marlborough High School. In 1965, Nancy graduated Stanford University cum laude. She received a master’s in psychology from San Jose State University. Nancy met her husband, Stephen Rush while both were undergraduates at Stanford. In 1973 they moved to Nashville, TN with their two small children where they raised their family. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 19th, 2015. Nancy was an avid reader, loved gourmet food, cooking, travelling, the ocean and gorillas. She is survived by her husband, Stephen, son Jeff and his wife Tonya, daughter Stephanie and her husband Michael, sister Kathleen, and her beloved grandchildren Archer and Lauren. Nancy will be much missed by all who loved her. A memorial will be held on November 13, 2016 at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home from 4:00 – 6:00 PM.
