Nellie Ruth Matthews, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, was welcomed into heaven on Friday, February 17, 2012 at the age of 93. She was born in Bedford County, TN on November 27, 1918 to Etta Mai Sanders May and James Edward May. She is predeceased by siblings Reba May, Grace Elizabeth May Wood, James Everett May, Henry Edgar May, Hazel Irene May Beasley Henry, and Kenneth May. She is survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends. She was an accomplished piano player, gardener, and devoted family member. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved children and dogs. She was an active member of the Amica Sunday School Class at Belmont Heights Baptist Church. Nellie graduated from East High School and Draughn's Business College. She worked at the Railroad Retirement Board and was a member of the United Transportation Union Auxiliary.
