

MANNING, Norman Floyd - Age 57 of Hendersonville, TN, passed away on September 21, 2011 at Centennial Hospital in Nashville with his loving family and friends by his side. He was born on February 14, 1954 in East Nashville to James and Margaret Manning. His is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Theresa Hopwood Manning, of Hendersonville, and their children, Robert (Desiree) Hopwood, and grandchildren, James, Alex, and Rose Hopwood, all of Joelton; daughter, Corrine Hopwood of Hendersonville; brother, David (Linda) Manning of New Johnsonville; and brother, James (Sherry) Manning of Russellville, Alabama. He is also survived by nieces, Dava Silva, Nikki Manning; and nephew, David Manning, Jr. Norman was preceded in death by his father, James Manning, and mother, Margaret Manning Smith. He attended and graduated from David Lipscomb High School and University. Norman began his career at Steiner Liff in the summer when he was 16. After he graduated from college, he began his 35 plus year career with the company as it merged into Leggett & Platt. During his time there, he traveled all over the world and the United States, and worked in various positions, including Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Norman was beloved by his co-workers and business associates. Norman spent most of his life in Nashville, but he also resided in Douglasville, GA; and for the last 16 years, he and Theresa lived on the lake in Hendersonville. He loved life to the fullest, playing drums, fishing, and enjoying road trips with his motorcycle friends. (AKA Hall Pass) He loved spending Sunday with the Titans and all his friends. He was involved and passionate about local politics. He was also passionate about his pets, Bruno and Morgan. Norman was loved by many. His wife, Theresa, was the love of his life. Visitation with the family will be at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN 37204 on Sunday, September 25, 2011 from 2-8 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, September 26, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Woodlawn's Dignity Hall.
