

Ollie C. Batts Jr., aged 93, of Hazel Green, AL, passed away on August 15, 2024. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, on July 16, 1931, Ollie was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose life was marked by dedication, craftsmanship, and a profound love for family and adventure.
Ollie graduated from Humme-Fogg Academic High School and married Dorothy Jean Gordon on April 12, 1952, in Nashville. His professional life was devoted to service in the Tennessee Army National Guard, where he committed 40 years of his life. Outside of his service, Ollie had a passion for building, whether it was working on automotives or embarking on various projects. His love for camping took him across the United States, sharing many joyful travels with family and friends.
Ollie was the son of the late Ollie C. Batts Sr. and Ruby Pauline Carter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Batts; his son, Patrick Batts; and his brother, James Batts (Mary Virginia Batts).
He is survived by his children, Bobby (Debbie) Batts of Hazel Green, AL; Jere (Ashley) Batts of Colorado Springs, CO; and Patricia (William) Gulledge of Springville, AL. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Barry Batts and Mark E. Bishop of Douglasville, GA; Shannon and Laura Batts of Mount Juliet, TN; Courtney McNair of Birmingham, AL; Matthew and Alex Batts of Hendersonville, TN; Melissa and Hinton Johnson of Kansas City, MO; Kate and Aaron Loflin of Smyrna, TN; and his great-grandchildren: Tanner Batts; Nealey Batts; Kaitlyn Shyblosky; Alek Shyblosky; Zander Batts; Adaline Batts; Drew McNair; Alyssa McNair; Parker Loflin; Beau Loflin; and Alyssa Loflin.
Ollie’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Monday, August 19, 2024 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln., Nashville, TN 37204. A Graveside Service will follow Visitation at 2:00pm in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
