Otha Morris Goen III, known by everyone as Trip, was a beacon of creativity and a soul of boundless adventure. Born on July 12, 2000, in the vibrant city of San Antonio, TX, Trip's life was a symphony of passion, dedication, and heartwarming memories. His journey from earth to God was on March 8, 2025, in Murfreesboro, TN, leaving behind a legacy of music, love, and inspiration.
Trip's story is one of an indomitable spirit that danced to the rhythm of his own drum. He was the beloved son of Otha Morris Goen, Jr. and Terry Goen, and the cherished brother of Grace Goen. His family was his fortress, providing him with endless support and the freedom to explore his creative horizons. Trip's love for his family and friends, who were more like brothers, was authentic and unafraid and their bond was unbreakable, forming the cornerstone of his life.
Trip's music passion was a journey that Trip navigated with the same relentless dedication he applied to most every aspect of his life. At the time of his passing, he was working diligently towards his bachelor's degree in Audio Production at Middle Tennessee State University. His dedication to his craft was not merely academic; it was a profound expression of his innermost self. Trip's hunger for knowledge and his relentless pursuit of excellence set a shining example for all who knew him.
Music was the essence of Trip's life. He was a virtuoso who found solace and joy in the strings of his guitar, the keys of his piano, and the beat of his drums. His musical talents were a testament to his creative genius, and his ability to convey complex emotions through his compositions was nothing short of extraordinary. Trip lived by the philosophy that music is the universal language of mankind, a belief that he expressed through every note he played.
Trip was known for his adventurous spirit, always seeking new experiences and challenges with a thoughtful approach. He had a unique ability to see the beauty in the everyday, to find joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially his life long dog Polo. His friends and family will fondly remember his spontaneous road trips, his impromptu jam sessions, and his infectious laughter that could light up the darkest of rooms. Trip's years were way too short for those that loved him, he lived a full and passionate life, traveling and experiencing many places and having many adventures.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Trip would describe him as a creative force, an adventurous soul, and a thoughtful individual, and a force to be reckoned with, if you were in a fight you wanted Trip on your side, he was as loyal as it gets to those he loved. He had a knack for leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met, inspiring them to embrace their passions and to live life to the fullest. Trip's legacy is one of inspiration, a reminder that we should all dare to dream and have the courage to pursue those dreams with all our might.
In the words of the great poet Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." Trip embodied this sentiment in every aspect of his life. He blazed his own trail, leaving an indelible mark on the world and on the hearts of those who knew him.
Trip's life was a beautiful composition, a melody that will continue to resonate long after his final note has been played. His spirit will live on in the music he created, in the memories he shared, and in the lives he touched. Trip's journey was a testament to the power of living authentically and passionately. His story will continue to inspire and motivate, a timeless reminder that life, like music, is a gift to be cherished and shared with the world.

In the great words of Johnny Cash, "When I come to the end of my journey, weary of life and the battle is won, there will be joy for each trial and temptation; He'll understand and say, "Well done."
In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations to support suicide prevention. The preferred organization is NAMI through AHUMC. (National Alliance on Mental Illness-Greater San Antonio Chapter).
