When asked to describe Patricia Boyd, her friends and family use such words as “selfless, smart, charismatic, funny, sassy, and protective.” Upon meeting her, one would first notice her lively and bright blue eyes. However, it did not take long to discern the most unusually bright and lovely light, quick wit, and engaging personality that lay behind her eyes.
Early on the morning of Friday, December 29, 2017, the brilliance of her light, her beautiful eyes, and her life were extinguished as Patty passed on from this life to meet her Savior and her loved ones who preceded her in death. As she desired, she was diligently and courageously cared for at home by the strength and love of her daughters until her death. In their words, “her hands held us first, and our hands held her last.”
Patty will forever be remembered as the most devoted, bold, strong, unwavering, and loving mother who was most alive and delighted when she was with her girls. Together, they would take many impromptu trips to the beach, go out to eat (something she loved), visit the flea market, or go shopping. Together, they would also come to love and rescue several Pomeranian dogs. It was her example that made them the strong, independent, hard-working, and loyal people that they are today. Her daughters fondly recall her love of all things sweet to eat. In fact, she loved to cook and eat fabulous meals. She loved Christmas and was especially known for the fifteen kinds of homemade Christmas cookies that she would bake and share. Additionally, she will be remembered for her love of reading the Bible in which she kept a preserved rose from her own mother’s funeral.
Patty is preceded in death, and joyfully welcomed home, by her parents, John and Mary Gabor, and her sister, Carol Hays. She is survived with love by her daughters, Renee Allen of Mt. Juliet, and Terra Hearne of Nashville; her sister, Mary Lou Roman (Al Roman, preceded in death) of Ambridge, PA; her cousin, Jean Goldsmith of Youngstown, OH; nine cherished nieces; and her beloved Pomeranians, Bella and Zuzu.
“For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed…nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20
