Philip George Van Vranken age 76 of Silver Point, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, October 17th, 2017 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. He was born on November 29th,1940 in New Jersey. He was the beloved son of the late Harvey and Edith Van Vranken.
Philip is survived by his two brothers, Harvey (June) Van Vranken of Ohio and Bill Van Vranken of Florida; daughter Stephanie (James) Boone of West Virginia; three sons, Pete Van Vranken of West Virginia, Zachary (Kristen) Van Vranken of Silver Point, Jacob Van Vranken of Nashville; and 7 grandchildren.
Phil was a graduate from the University of Florida and an avid Florida Gator fan. He served in the navy during the Vietnam era where he flew A-3D’s as a pilot. His flight experience earned him a spot on several NASA Apollo missions as a flight simulator engineer. He later earned his doctorate degree in dentistry from the University of Louisville and was still practicing at the age of 76.
Family and friends will be received at Marshall- Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home, 201 25th Ave N, Nashville beginning at 10:30 am Saturday October 28th. A memorial service will follow at noon.
Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Vanderbilt Children’s Center in Nashville.
