

Hogan, Dr. Ray William – Age 73 of Murfreesboro, TN. January 23, 2012. Preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Minnie Hogan. Survived by loving wife of almost 55 years Glenda Hall Hogan, daughter Cindy Greene and son-in-law Drew Storm, granddaughters Kimberly Cates and Christie Calvert, great grandson Mikey Cates, first cousin Ruth Simpson, brothers and sisters- in-law, and many nieces and nephews. A native Nashvillian, he graduated from Cohn High School in 1956. He attended Belmont University on a baseball scholarship where he also played tennis his freshman year. He graduated with a bachelor degree of education. Later he attended MTSU and Peabody at Vanderbilt where he completed his studies and received a doctorate of education. Ray was a Metro-Davidson County School teacher, coach and principal and was a devoted member of the Nashville community. In 1991, he was awarded the Belmont University distinguished alumni of the year and was the president of the Belmont Bruins alumni association in 1998. He played baseball for the Nashville Interscholastic League (NIL) for many years and was a member and board member of the Nashville Old Timers Baseball Association. Memorials may be made to Alive Hospice of Nashville. Funeral Services 1 pm Thursday, January 26, 2012 in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall.
