Regina was such a phenomenal music teacher. I always appreciated her outlook on student performance. She would say every child deserves a chance to be a star on stage, either singing, dancing, or acting. Regina made certain each child had their moment to shine! Speaking as a colleague and parent, I respected her efforts to make each child a star! I’m extremely saddened to hear of Regina’s passing and consider it an honor to have worked with her at Mt. Comfort.

I remember as a 10 yr old girl, in a small town elementary school having one of the 'coolest young teachers'.. and it was Mrs. Bowen.  She taught our music class.  As a kid, I do not remember how many times a week we would have class with her, but I remember always loving going to class, and she would get all of us to sing.  I remember when she had us memorize "My Ol' Kentucky Home'  and the 'Star Spangled Banner'. and how excited she made us feel as we would sing those songs.    I remember in 4th, or maybe 5th grade,  our class did a skit that involved a song about the 3 ships of Christopher Columbus: The Nina, the Pinta, the Santa Maria and Mrs. Bowen would direct us of how to sing the song, and also how to 'step forward on your cue' with our 'ship' costume.  I wish I could remember more about her, but what I do remember is a kind, (young) loving music teacher who wanted us to be as excited over music as she was.  At the end of  6th grade, my family was moving to Ohio, and I remember being so sad.  I remember when she asked 'What part of Ohio are you moving to?" and when I told her 'Baltimore', she almost screamed and said "THAT's my Hometown!" and tried to assure me that I would love living there (she also told me who a few family members were and to 'look them up' when I got there).   I am grateful for that small amount of time in my life that I had the influence of a great teacher.   Do I love music? Absolutely!  Do I have fond memories at my elementary school?  Absolutely! Due to great teachers such as Regina.  Prayers for her family. I am sure she will be missed. - Karen (Blake) Keller

Regina Bowan was a cherished light in our lives—steady, warm, and deeply rooted in love and friendship. To know her was to be welcomed with a smile, a plate of something delicious, and a heartfelt conversation that could stretch for hours. She had a special bond with Becky, always swapping recipes and kitchen secrets, making every meal an invitation to share and connect.

Regina had a quiet way of supporting dreams, especially when I started learning to play the electric bass. She’d listen with patience, nod along to the rhythm, and proudly place a star on my music theory papers, like a teacher cheering on her favorite student. Her encouragement helped shape the music in me, and I’ll always carry that sound in my soul.

Some of our best times were spent around the dinner table—whether at a restaurant or at Regina and Don’s home, where the food was great, but the company was even better. We played cards late into the night, laughing, arguing over who cheated (always in good fun), and creating memories that are now treasures I hold close.

When Becky was at work, I’d often stop by just to sit with Don and Regina. We’d talk about everything—sports, politics, religion, or just how our days were going. Those talks were never rushed. She listened like your words mattered, because to her, they did.

And it wasn’t just me—when my kids came to town, one of their first stops was always Don’s and Regina’s They’d greet her with hugs and laughter, knowing they were always welcome.

Regina’s absence leaves a space no one else can fill. She was thoughtful, generous, wise, and full of love—and she will be deeply, truly, and forever missed.

Rest peacefully, Regina. Your light will never go out.🙏🏾
