Born October 9, 1939 in Medford, Massachusetts. Passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025 at his home in Anthem, Arizona.
Richard will be laid to rest in a private ceremony on October 9 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Nashville, Tennessee, beside his beloved wife of 45 years, country music artist Margo Smith Cammeron.
A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, Richard was known for his entrepreneurial spirit and generous heart. Over the years, he built a career in many arenas, including restaurant ownership, telemarketing, and the country music industry. His eye for design and passion for real estate led him to create and build luxury homes. Through it all, he remained steadfastly supportive of Margo’s music career, never missing a show and faithfully standing by her side.
Richard’s life journey took him from Massachusetts to the Territory of Alaska, Colorado, Indiana, Tennessee, Florida, and finally Arizona. His adventurous spirit carried him up Pikes Peak on a motorcycle, across waters as captain of his own boats, and into the skies as a pilot. His life was full.
A man of faith, Richard deeply loved his country and never took for granted the freedoms it represents. Beneath his rugged exterior was a tender heart that sought to know Jesus more. He served with joy on the board of New Hope Community Church in Brentwood, Tennessee, where he was a longtime member. During his years in Florida, he continued his service at Fairway Christian Church as both a deacon and a beloved member of the congregation. He was also a cherished part of Music City Christian Fellowship, where he warmly hosted gatherings and celebrations for many years.
Richard is survived by his children Tonja Taskey (Greg Elder), Lisa Foster, stepdaughter Holly Watson (Kevin Watson), and stepson Jeffery Smith; grandchildren Chance Taskey, Adam Elder, Maggie Elder, Paige Elder, Layne Elder, Zac Nero (Elizabeth), Gray Watson, and Brody Watson; and brothers Bob Foster and Pete Foster (Barb).
A Celebration of Life service will be held on October 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Harpeth Christian Church, 1101 Gardner Drive, Franklin, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
