Robert Joshua Fisher

Robert Joshua Fisher, 41, passed away unexpectedly March 28 in Nashville. A native of Conway, Arkansas, Rob spent his entire career working to protect and improve natural resources in his home state and throughout the world, serving most recently as the executive director and co-founder of the Ecological Conservation Organization (ECO). Prior to founding ECO, Rob worked for American Rivers, Arkansas Audubon and the National Wildlife Federation. With these and other organizations, he approached his passion for conservation in a variety of fashions, from leading state and federal environmental policy programs to developing wetland restoration projects to expanding education initiatives. He held a B.S. from Henderson State University (Arkadelphia, AR) and a Master’s in Environmental Communication from Stephen F. Austin State University (Nacogdoches, TX), and he formerly served as an adjunct professor for the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. He was also a Governor Appointed Commissioner on the Climate Change Commission and a proud activist, serving on the board of the "Free West Memphis 3" efforts. Rob Fisher loved well and was well loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his wife Carissa Eldridge; his parents, Bob and Judy Fisher; his sisters and brothers-in-law Jennifer and Neil Knickerbocker and Kelly and Ben Collamore; nephews Joshua, Sam, Ben, Jacob and Eli Knickerbocker and Marlowe Collamore; niece Juliette Collamore; and countless friends and family. Rob had an extraordinary love for all animals and especially, his companion Caddo. A gathering will be held for Rob’s close friends and family at the DeGray Highway 7 Pavilion on DeGray Lake in Arkadelphia on Saturday, April 9 from 1-3 p.m. A private interment ceremony will be held.
