He was born July 16, 1943 in Nashville, TN, to parents, Francis (Scott) and Clarence Coston Sawyer.
Robert graduated from Hume-Fogg High School in 1962. In his professional years, Robert worked as a Nursing Technician at Baptist Hospital and later as a Respiratory Therapist at Edgefield and St. Thomas Hospitals and the Miller Clinic.
Robert is predeceased by his parents and brother; Clarence Raymond Sawyer, Sr. and sisters; Helen F. Adcox and Bertha L. Wilson, he is survived by several nieces and nephews.
