

Rodger Neil Crain, 81, of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Rodger will be remembered for his deep love for his family, his church, and for always having a story to tell.
A longtime member of Green Hills Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, Rodger's faith was a guiding light throughout his life. In his later years, he found joy in life's simple pleasures-fishing, hunting, and especially sitting on the porch watching birds. He never met a stranger, and his gift for conversation and laughter brightened every room he entered.
Rodger is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Peggy Jill StJohn Crain; daughter, Amanda LeAnne Crain Horn of Nolensville, TN; son, Steven Brian Crain and wife Angela of Murfreesboro, TN; and granddaughters, Kaitlyn Pearl Hardy and Alyssa LeAnne Crain. He is also survived by his brother, Donald W. Crain, Sr. and family of White House, TN; and sister, Judith A. Crain Dickerson and family of Bardstown, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Irvin Crain and Corneila Inez Myers Crain of Nashville, TN; and his in-laws, William Lillard StJohn Sr., Nellie Mae Graves StJohn, and William Lillard StJohn Jr.

Rodger will be dearly missed and fondly remembered for his kindness, humor, and unwavering love for those around him.
A graveside service for Rodger will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Mount Olivet Funeral Home & Cemetery, 1101 Lebanon Pike, Nashville, TN 37210.
