My Papi,

I wish that you and mami were still around to see my children as young adults and to be able to make more memories with them. I wish I could have taken all the kids to Venado every year to show them the town you and mom grew up in. The best thing I have are
all the pictures and videos of you and mom with  Elena, Sandra, Jaime, Arturo, and Erica. Beautiful memories! I love you and miss
you so much!

A long time ago around mid December, the Morales' family went to the mall and took a family photo. Capturing the Essence of Family: Portraits that Tell Your Story. We went through every imaginable meme when families get together. Fashionably late, kids fussing, and men ready for dinner and a snooze. 
The result: showcasing the love, growth, and togetherness that define your family encompassed around the patriarch. It captured a unique chapter in our family’s journey. 
As I start decorating this tree, I am reminded of our times together and lucky to revisit these childhood memories thanks to you.

It's another year that has gone by and if God could give me one wish on this day it would be to see you.  I would give you the biggest hug and never wanting to let you go.  I know that I would have tears coming down my cheeks and trying to get some words out would be so hard. Many kisses to you, my precious, daddy!

My Papa,

I was going through some keepsakes the other day and found a plane ticket to Nashville dating back to 2015. I remember taking Skippy with me that time and I'll never forget the way you and Skippy bonded. You changed his name to Tony! I remember Skippy moving the blankets around for you with his nose when you'd wake. I always reflect on our moments together. I miss you Papa. Each and every day. I love you.

Papa, I miss you. I was looking at photos and remembering the wonderful childhood I had in Nashville and it's thanks to my wonderful grandfather. I can still smell your cologne. Tony misses you too 🐕

I miss you a lot but I have many memories of you. I remember that you would come home with a new car each year. It was a white and red convertible car that I remember the most.  Jaime is the opposite of you, he likes to get older cars and fix them. You were a great father! I wish you were here with me. Many hugs and kisses.

Hi Papa,
I miss you. I remember our trips to Waffle House, Shoneys and McDonalds--how special those moments were.  I just daydream of going back to my childhood and watching you tailor suits and other lavish fabrics. And every time I look at Skippy, I think of when you two first met. You changed his name to Tony. That was so adorable. One winter evening, you saw my reflection in the window and thought it was a witch! We laughed so much! I love Papa. I miss you so much. I will see you in due time Papa xoxo

Y nació el mismo día q el cumpleaños de Blas . Parece q se va llamar Andrés. Yo quería q se llamara Blas.  Hay papi te quiero dar las gracias por curar mis manos te lo agradezco con todo mi corazón. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails.
I had this verse read at your mass because it meant something to me.  Erica would always tell me how she loved this verse.  When I saw it I knew it had to be read at your funeral.  Then, when I returned to California I was given a card of condolence that had the same verse.
Yesterday was two months since you left us.  I wish I could see your face again and be able to hold your hand.

My dearest daddy, 
You passed away a month ago but it seems as though you are still with us.  The Parkinson's Disease took you away from us too early in your life.  There were many things that we didn't get to do together, especially the ability to grow old with you. I wish I could see your smiling face again. All my tears will not bring you back to me but I know that you are happy in heaven with God.  I will always have you in my heart.  I miss you very much. Love you always!

I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every situation, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through HE who strengthens me
I was very intentional about choosing this bible verse. Why?  It is my favorite verse but also because it does represent my grandfather. He had many highs and many lows, much abundance and as well as times of need. God blessed him with a successful career and family. He was able to live what some call the American Dream. Providing for his family and creating a future for them was one of his many accomplishments; he was an example to follow. He knew how to be generous to others and never hesitated to lending a helping hand. Even in the hardest of times my grandfather knew how to face adversity. Always putting up a fight even in sickness, he proved time and time again he was tough.  My grandfather is now in abundance and peace with the Lord. And while he may not be with us, he leaves behind his example to be kind to others and always give the best version of ourselves no matter what situation. 
Thank you Daddy for everything and all the memories we shared as a family. We love you and miss you.

My sweet and dearest Daddy, 
I have so many dear memories of you. I remember your love for a good Waffle House breakfast will all of the fixings of a All-Star Breakfast. I remember you were always up for a good McDonalds lunch, fries and all. 

 I remember your colorful and dapper suits, all hand crafted carefully by you. My favorite was your pink suit. Only the most self confident men can rock a pink suit like you did. You always matched your shoes, your belts, hats and silk kerchiefs because you were a man of style.  You had a poise that few men have, a poise that comes from years of confidence and knowledge of the world, all of it present when you sat casually, crossing your leg over the other and smiling confidently from under your large glasses and hat. 

Your carefulness transferred over to your business. I remember how carefully you kept your desk, with neat stacks of sorted bills and checks, and a neat vintage style ledger, next to your gold tipped calligraphy pens. 

 I remember your tenderness towards me and my sisters when you would ask us if we were hungry, even though we had eaten a little while before. You always wanted to give us more.  I remember you always wanted to give us things. Sometimes it was food to eat, or pens and paper or a crisp dollar bill. No matter how much or little you had at hand, there was always something you wanted to give it us. My only token from you is a small brown cigar box, which I have treasured from many years. 

I remember going to your tailor shop and the rows of clothes and suits waiting to be looked at by your experienced, sharp eyes. I remember your hands going over a seam, and marveling at the craftsmanship.  I remember that although you had  people working for you, nothing was too little for you to do. I remember your neat and careful management of your business, which is my example to follow. 

I remember your humanity. When we went to Krogers, you always made sure to bring a large bag of bird feed along. In the mornings, I would see you from the kitchen window, pouring seeds into the bird feeders and marveling at the sight of cardinals and song birds. There was always food for the birds while you were at home. 

I love you sweet daddy. Although I miss you, I know you will be watching over us from the stars.

I'll always remember you as a kind and generous soul who I was so very lucky to have as a grandfather. The memories I have of you as well as the pictures of you and Omarcito I will cherish forever. You will be missed but never forgotten, your spirit lives in each of your children, grand children and great-grandchildren. I imagine that you are in Heaven looking down at us now, and I hope you know that we all love you with all our heart.

I thank God that I was with you  during the  last eleven years of your life.   I am so thankful that I was with you when you laughed and when you cried during your long battle with Parkinson.  I am so thankful that I could hold you in my arms when you had fainted so many times.  I am so thankful that I could hold your hand and comfort you when you were sad and so sick.  I am so thankful that I was able to feed you when you were too weak to do it yourself and help you dress yourself when your hands and body were stiff ,  I am so thankful that I could drive you anywhere you wanted to  go and be your personal secretary.  I have a life time of memories  daddy that i will never ever forget.  Thank you Daddy!! I love you so much. Until we meet again.  I will be the one waiting for your hand to guide me home.  Griselda

Papa, 
I am very lucky to have you as a grandfather; I remember all the memories I had of you when I was a child and they will never fade away. I will always love you and cherish the moments I had with you.

 I have the fondest memories of my grandfather, from watching him put on his aftershave--the Old Spice scent and helping me make socks for my puppy at his tailor shop, to always making time in the morning for opening mail and filling the bird feeder with bird seeds. He connected with a peculiar chihuahua he named Tony, after his brother Antonio. I will always remember the sound of his voice, deep and melodic. I'll never forget his affection and adoration. As I write this with a heavy heart, I will miss him and love him and await to reunite with him in heaven.

My grandfather was diligent, chivalrous, generous, witty, entertaining, composed and would always furrow his brow when something upset him. He was family oriented--he put his family first above all else. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren to Waffle House when they visited and always suggested a good McDonalds meal for lunch. He has enhanced this world with his radiance and will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to have been a part of his life. He has achieved grace and awe that most of us still strive to obtain..

Pop, this isn't a goodbye or farewell. This is a see you later. You won't be forgotten, ever. I will always be thankful for many first times while living in Tennessee. The Waffle House was great, not for the food but for your company, as well as Cracker Barrel, Krispy Kreme, and the first time I saw snow. Memories fade, but you won't. And I always enjoyed going to your tailor shop, good times there. You were my first pen pal too, I won't ever forget the letters. You will continue to show me more once we meet again. Have fun up there, pop. Earth just isn't the same without you. Love always and forever.

Daddy, I know it was time for you to go even though I was so longing for you
to stay. I saw in your eyes and in your face that you were tired. I held your hand with tears in my eyes and I saw you take your last breath. No more pain, daddy. Now you're with God.

Papa, I am so thankful to have the best memories in my heart from when you and I spent time together in your backyard when I was a little girl. Although letting part of you go has been one of the hardest times in my life, I know that I can keep the memory of you living on forever. I cannot wait to see you again, papa.
