Ruth S. Bradley Nashville, TN Born on July 24, 1928 in Columbus, GA, and passed away on January 9, 2016. Preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Charles D. and Mary Ruth Stewart; and her husband of 50 years, Martin B. Bradley. Survived by her brother, Charles D. Stewart, Jr. (Carolyn); her children, Martia DeMore (Charles), Kerry Bradley (Laura) and Russell Bradley (Margo); her grandchildren, Rachel Duncan, Becca DeMore, Amanda Sutter, Connor Bradley, Ashley Bradley, Tevy Bradley, Cristy Hasha, and Corey Bradley; and great-grandchildren, Abigail Hasha and Everett Hasha. She was a graduate of Tift College and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary and a member of First Baptist Church, Nashville for 60+ years. She worked at Tennessee Baptist Convention Executive Office for 20+ years and as Assistant to Recording Secretary of Southern Baptist Convention for 20+ years. Ruth, first and foremost, loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ – and walked closely with Him! She loved to laugh and to listen -- and she could talk to anyone about anything because she enjoyed people. Ruth was undeniably committed to and deeply loved her parents, brother, husband, in-laws and each of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and grand-dogs, and they loved her back. She also enjoyed playing the piano and organ, talking on the phone, watching movies on the Hallmark channel, writing letters to old and new friends, having her hair done, teaching grammar and writing classes to church secretaries, and cleaning her house. Ruth was faithful to her church family and her Bible study and mission groups. She “adopted” college students while they were in Nashville and was a friendly volunteer for The Next Door ministry. Ruth also opened her home to international students to live while they studied English and shared her love of and faith in God with them. Her vibrancy and beauty of spirit refreshed those who knew her. Family and friends will gather at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home on Thursday, January 14, 2016 from one o’clock to two-thirty in the afternoon followed by a Celebration of Life Service. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions directly to The Next Door or First Baptist Church, Nashville (designated to local missions).
