

LAWRENCE, Ruth Turley - loving wife and mother, died Saturday, the 7th of July 2012 in Nashville, TN with her family at her side. She was ninety-one years of age. Ruth was born in Springfield, IL, the daughter of the late Ethel Daigh and Earl Franklin Turley. She grew up in Springfield with three brothers and a sister, but traveled with her family to southern California as a teenager. She was living in La Jolla, California during World War II when she met the love of her life, Wayne Lowell Lawrence, to whom she was married for sixty-one years. They lived in California with their four children for several years until they moved to Northern Virginia where they spent the majority of their married life. Both maintained active roles in the Presbyterian Church. Wayne and Ruth then moved to Nashville later in their retirement where Wayne died in 2008. Ruth loved her family, and she loved her friends and caregivers at The Blakeford in Green Hills. She was a wonderful bridge player and played for over seventy years. Ruth was also preceded in death by a son, Wayne Lowell Lawrence, Jr. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Debbie Lawrence, of Frederick, MD, her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jack Wilson, of Tennessee, and her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Dan Gremillion, of Nashville, TN. She is also survived by three grandsons, two granddaughters, one great-grandson, and two great-granddaughters. Ruth will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her children rejoice that their mom has been reunited with their father and brother. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family beginning at ten o’clock with a funeral service following at eleven o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 13th of July 2012 at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home where Jim Bachmann, Senior Pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church is to officiate. Interment will follow at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, TN.
