Sam Bradford Herbert, 78, passed peacefully on October 31, 2024, at Alive HOSPICE in Nashville, Tennessee. Sam is preceded in death by his parents, John S. Herbert and Martha Foster Herbert, as well as his brothers Charles F. Herbert and John S. Herbert, Jr. and sister Martha Herbert Boydston.
Sam is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Jan Buckner Herbert, his children John S. Herbert, Alva L. Herbert, and Mary Rose Herbert, and his grandchildren Maggie Rose Herbert and Kate Herbert, his sister Alva (Frank) Wilk.
Born in Nashville on March 4, 1946, Sam was proud to be a 5th generation native Nashvillian. He attended Woodmont School, Montgomery Bell Academy, and graduated from Vanderbilt in 1968 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He spent 22 years working for the family business, Herbert Materials (formerly W.G. Bush and Co.) before starting his own business, Herbert & Company as a custom home builder.
In lieu flowers donations to Alzheimer's Association or Nashville Humane Society.
There will be a graveside service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery for family and friends on Wednesday, November 6th 11:00 am. There will be a Celebration of Life at later date.
