He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Golda Beard Smith; son, Sherwin Smith (Pam); daughter, Keith Ann Randolph (Mickey); grandchildren, Tanner Smith, Trevor Randolph and Paige Randolph; sister, Janie Couch.
Sammy was a member of Donelson Church of Christ and a Veteran of The United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War. He was retired after working as a Director for the Tennessee State Health Department. He enjoyed hunting, reading and woodworking. He was very skilled in the making of dulcimers.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 am Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Donelson Church of Christ, 2706 Old Lebanon Rd, Nashville, TN with Bro. Danny Gregg officiating. Interment will be at 3:00 pm Thursday at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Erin, TN. Serving as pallbearers will be Tanner Smith, Trevor Randolph, Mark Sturgis, Mark Couch, Mickey Randolph and Tracy Lynn.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at the Church.
