Sara Ezell Young, age 98, peacefully passed to her True Home on Feb 4, 2020. She was born in Nashville on May 16, 1921 to John W. and Margaret Miles Ezell who predeceased her. Sara was also preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Gilbert Gentry Young; son, Gilbert Gentry Young II; grandson, John Benton McGuire; and six siblings.
Mrs. Young is survived by daughters, Elaine (Jim) McGuire of Lilburn GA; Linda Bogue (Grady deceased) of Knoxville TN; and Glenda Hutcheson (Jim deceased) of Nashville; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Sara’s devoted life to faith, family and hospitality mirrored the virtuous woman of Proverbs 31. The hallmarks of her life were loving the Lord, practicing hospitality, welcoming the stranger, and serving those less fortunate. When she was 80 years young, she felt the Lord calling her to serve in the prison ministry. Her greatest passion, however, was to minister to underprivileged children. At age 85, Sara journeyed to the Holy Land for three consecutive years ministering to special needs children.
Mrs. Young was a faithful member of the Harpeth Hills Church of Christ. A celebration of her life will be held at Harpeth Hills Church of Christ on Sunday Feb 9 at 2 pm with Chris Smith officiating. Family members will serve as active pallbearers; Harpeth Hills elders will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation with the family will be Sat Feb 8 from 4–7 pm at the Harpeth Hills Church of Christ as well as one hour prior to the Celebration of Life
