She was married to Elmer Cartwright on February 14, 1948 in Nashville, and they enjoyed more than 60 years of marriage. Sarah worked for Bush Jewelers for more than 40 years, and was a member of the Third Baptist Church for over 70 years. She loved to watch her Kinds and grandsons play sports. Spending time with friends and family was was her greatest joy in life.
Sarah is survived by son Tom Cartwright (Missie); and daughter Debbie Lehman (Jerry); sister Nancy Baggett; aunt Andrew Lehman (Casie), grandson T.C. Cartwright (Anna), grandson Josh Cartwright, great granddaughter Nessa Cartwright, great granddaughter Emmy Cartwright, great grandson Baxter Lehman and great grandson Bennett Lehman.
In addition to her husband of 66 years, Elmer Cartwright, Sara was preceded in death by her parents; T.C. Sledge, and Hattie May Sledge, two brothers; Joe Sledge and Jim Sledge.
A visitation for Sarah will be held Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204. Funeral service in her honor will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, with visitation Wednesday, March 10, 2021 from 9:00 AM time of service. Sarah will be laid to rest at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Memorial Gardens following the funeral service.
