Stan Glasgow, of La Vergne, Tennessee, slipped the bonds of this earthly life and entered eternal rest on July 25, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on April 23, 1939, in Donelson, Tennessee, Stan was the beloved son of Homer Bell and Rubye Jane Glasgow, who preceded him in death, along with his sister, Jane Glasgow, and children Patrick Glasgow, Sr., Angela Glasgow, and Vince Glasgow. Left to treasure his memory is his devoted wife of 59 years, Mary Jo Glasgow, whose steadfast love and support was a beautiful example to his family. He is also survived by his children Cindy (Jake) Brooks, Vicki (Steve) Jones, and Bart (Coley) Glasgow, along with a growing legacy of 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren who carry forward the spirit, strength, and warmth he poured into them.
Stan was a man of true grit and grace – a loving husband, a steadfast father, a loyal friend. He spent his boyhood hunting, fishing, and trapping muskrat pelts to sell along the Stones River in Donelson, Tennessee. A gifted entrepreneur with a knack for people and a deep intuition for opportunity, Stan built several successful businesses from the ground up. His final and proudest venture, The Outback Builders, Inc., became a family legacy – first passed to his son Vince and now carried on by his grandson, Sam Glasgow. He taught by example: to work with integrity, to be generous, and to do things with all your might, “for things done by halves are never done right.”
Stan’s heart often returned to the water as he took annual fishing trips to Lake Okeechobee, Florida where he would fish for crappie and share his bountiful catches with family, friends, and his church group in an annual fish fry.
Stan died as he lived – in faith. With a quiet and unwavering faith in the Savior, Jesus Christ, he faced the end not with fear, but with an expectant hope. The weight of cancer and the fog of dementia have been cast off and left behind in this world. Though our hearts ache with his absence, we rejoice in the blessed assurance that we cannot even fathom the sweetness of his present sight nor the rejoicing on his lips in the presence of the Lord.
