

Stephen Meredith Maxwell, age 83, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Stephen was born March 12, 1939, to the late Harry and Mai McIntosh Maxwell. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a loving wife of 45 years, Joyce Ann Peyton Maxwell and sister, Susu Maxwell Caughorn.
Steve is survived by his daughters, Mian Maxwell (Joe Robins) of Nashville, Megan Aregis (Louie) of Goodlettsville, Moura Weatherly (John) of Nashville; grandson, Dominic Weatherly; sisters, Gay Magee of Nashville and Pam Hill of Dandridge, brother, Herb Maxwell (Wanda) of Nashville and a host of nieces and nephews.
Steve was President of Nashville Spring Service for over fifty years. His ability to change the demeanor of his customers made him a great negotiator. Steve had a witty and humorous personality, always the jokester. His love for cooking was evident in his love for good food. His favorite food group was fritos and corn nuts. Steve played football at Central High School and even received a football scholarship to the University of Wyoming. His love of the game extended throughout his life, with the Titans and he was one of the first PSL holders.
Steve was a friend to everyone, never meeting a stranger.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from three until six in the afternoon on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Mount Olivet Funeral Home and again on Friday, May 6, 2022 from ten o'clock in the morning until twelve noon.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at twelve noon on Friday, May 6, 2022 in Lindsley Hall of Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
