He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1943, and lived a life shaped by creativity, service, art and deep curiosity about the world. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jo Holliday, a partnership that remained a defining part of his life.
He proudly served in the United States Army with the 81st Airborne Division as a Paratrooper from 1963 to 1965. He completed basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey, and was then stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany, including participation in a classified special mission in the Congo. Following his military service, he continued his education through the GI Bill. He earned a fine arts degree from the Kansas City Art Institute. He was an artist at heart—a painter, photographer, and graphic designer. His creative career led him into multi-media production, with professional work in California and New York City, where he blended visual art, storytelling, and technical expertise.
He raised his family on Long Island, where he developed a deep love for the beach. He also loved to dance, a joy that reflected his appreciation for music, and life itself. He was deeply passionate about history and art and was known for his creative eye, intellect, and appreciation for the stories behind people and places.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kim Heidepriem, Kerry Heidepriem Dial (Spouse Jason Dial); and his grandchildren Roman & Riley Dial, who were a source of great pride and joy.
Service will be held at Morning Pointe Assisted Living at 1005 Generations Way, Franklin, TN 37064 on Sunday February 22nd from 11am - 12pm.
