Vera B. Vaughan

Maggie Vera Vaughan went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 16, 2016, after a long life as a devoted Nazarene pastor’s wife, homemaker, and mother. She was predeceased by her father and mother, William David Benefield and Pearlie Vera Langford Benefield, four brothers and four sisters, and her husband of 63 years, Rev. Jimmie Reese Vaughan, a daughter, Sue Boyce (James) and one great granddaughter (Erin Elizabeth Mullican). She is survived by her daughter, Mattie Hassell (Cannon), her son, Charles David "Buddy" Vaughan (Nancy), her daughter adopted with love, Mossie Bybee , her sister, Laura Miller, 10 grandchildren: Susan Kruse (Scott), David Hassell, Jane Stephens (Tony), James Boyce, Jr.(Stephanie), Lisa Richards (David), Lori Mullican (Ray), Lynn Smith (Kenneth), Linda Clouse (Robert), Robert Bybee (Rhonda), Debbie Bybee, 19 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.

Visitation at 11:00 am to 1:30 pm on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Mount Olivet Funeral Home, with funeral following at 1:30 pm, Rev. Lowell Clyburn officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Gideons International or a favorite charity.
