Walter Lewis Griggs, Jr. Age 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Alive Hospice. He was born January 1, 1939 in Nashville, TN. He was a lifelong resident of Nashville and an avid fan of Nascar racing. He raced his own cars at Fairground Speedway. He knew everything there was about auto racing and repairing cars and trucks. He was married to the late Geraldine Judkins Griggs for 66 years.
Preceded in death by his parents, Walter Griggs Sr., Beatrice Creson.
They were blessed with four children, the late Karen Griggs, Donna Sexton (Jeff), Allen Griggs (Jennifer) and Jody Griggs. Grandchildren: Jason Sexton, Isabella Griggs and Sophia Griggs. Great grandchildren: Jacob Sexton and Joshua Sexton.
He is survived by brother, Bobby Griggs, sisters - the late Clara Avenido and Katherine Moss.
Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 11 am at Mt. Olivet Funeral Home.
