Bill was my old and trusted friend,  close as a brother and to the remaining living brothers, and his widow and daughter,  I'm so sorry I wasn't able to attend the funeral and hope the family can forgive me for my absence.

Bill was my 5th cousin once removed.  Sorry to hear about his passing.  My prayers goes out to the family.

I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing.  He was a truly nice guy  I knew from about the 7th grade through high school in Nashville.  In this time of sadness my thoughts and prayers are with you who are his family.

Dearest Lauren and Emma,

Have known my dear friend Bill since I was twelve and admired him because I felt he was brave and had idea that whenever called upon he would lay down his life for any of his fellow Marines while he was in combat in Vietnam.  Deep down Bill was really very modest when talking about himself and he had a solid understanding of what it means to be a brother and a friend.  He included me as one of his and I was always grateful for his friendship.  He called a spade a spade and think he always gave good advice and assessments of everyday living with his loved ones.  You could always count on good judgment from Bill.  His character was beyond reproach and he came from the best of stock.  Will miss his jokes.  

Hope you both have a speedy recovery from his absence.  Think he is happy to see his mom and dad in heaven.  I miss him and feel big void and a deep sadness.  Same feelings with Bill and Jackie too.  But know they re all together and will look down on you guys to make sure each day will be well with both of you.  With all the watchful angels around you guys and Bill will be there in spirit too your everyday living will be watched over.

Please accept our sincere condolences. Bill was a very special person and he was a devoted husband and father to you Lauren and his special daughter Emma who meant the world to him. Only having met him a couple of times was a pleasure.

Lauren, I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. Even though I have never met Bill, I know that he had to be an amazing guy since he was married to one of my oldest friends!! I will keep you and Emma in my prayers.

I send my prayers that the Lord will hold you especially close during this difficult time!

I will never forget Bill's love of Southern storytelling and appreciation of oral tradition. With his humor and sly smile, he kept "the Bell Witch" alive. The world is sadly a less colorful place without him.

Bill was loved by so many. I am blessed to have known him. 
I am certain the pickers up in Heaven were giving each other high fives when Bill Showed up. :) we will miss you.

Our deepest sympathy go out to Lauren Baird and family. The years I knew and worked with Bill in Nashville were most enjoyable. Bill was always a positive person, enjoyed life and loved his wife and daughter. Our discussions about aviation and the American Civil War were a few of the topics we were both interested in. Bill was a strong Christian individual and we pray that time will help ease the pain of his passing.  Carol & Bob Newkirk

In the 8th grade at Cavert Junior High,  Bill and I formed a band called The Eskaydes Combo.  I value our friendship, and I can hear him playing guitar and singing .

RIP BILL.STILL HEAR YOU PLAYING ROCKY TOP AT THE FRAT HOUSE.I'M GLAD I KNEW YOU.

Bill was a great man and a wonderful neighbor, we had many long conversations over the past 9 years visiting in the yard. I will really miss him!

You will be missed for music, humor and being you my friend.

"Uncle Bill" I thank you for love, laughter & life.  Thank you for our love in "Gentlemen's Corner".

I knew Bill way back in elementary school at Woodmont.  I remember him happy and smiling and always enjoying fun!  Not surprised to learn he picked up the banjo ~ that's what happy and fun people do!  My heart is with his family ~ I know he was a good, good man.

Also Know by his students as  "Mr. Beautiful", Bill Baird could tell a great story and play a great banjo. God bless you!
