William (Mark) Marquess Brashears, Jr., born on June 25th, 1953, passed peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee on December 16th, 2020 at the age of 67. Mark was born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky and lived a creative and entertaining life. He had various interests including literature, music, architecture, and making life-long friendships that lasted years. His enthusiasm for life was never questioned and he lived by the motto, “excess in moderation.” He shared his appreciation of music and events with his friends and family, never to turn down a memory-filled good time.
His career led him to work as a curator for the Pennyroyal Area Museum in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, for various architectural firms, and onto a senior role of design and construction in the restaurant industry that included Shoney’s, Cracker Barrel, Logan’s Roadhouse and Hooter’s.
He is survived by his mother, Vera James Brashears of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; his brother, Gregg (wife, Pam) Brashears of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; his son, Sean (wife, Sarah) Brashears of Nashville, Tennessee; his daughter, Taylor Brashears of Nashville, Tennessee; and his grandson, Jerdon Thomas (J.T.) Brashears.
Anyone that knew him, had heard at least a dozen notable “Mark Brashears stories” and perhaps participated in those events with him. A memorial “celebration of his life” will take place when the pandemic permits a gathering of his friends and family. Please feel free to bring (or send us) any of those anecdotes or narratives in lieu of flowers. We’d love to hear them.
