William Leo Burns

William (Bill) BurnsNashville, TNWilliam L. (Bill) Burns, born August 24, 1938 passed away on June 23, 2015. Bill was born and raised in Bellevue, attended St. Ann Parochial School, graduated from Father Ryan High School in 1956, and graduated from Christian Brothers College in 1960. He served in the Air Force for 7 years, including 3 tours in Vietnam, earning the rank of Captain. He was Chief Warrant Officer 5 with the Army National Guard 278th Air Calvary Regiment based in Smyrna, TN, for 31 years, and served both branches proudly. He was a member of TN Chapter #9 International Harvesters Tractor Association, and the Knights of Columbus 544. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Mary Martin Burns.He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Jo, and children William Jeffrey, Jill Marie, and Michael Jacob. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend. Visitation will be Sunday June 28th from 5 -7 at St. Henry with the rosary to be recited at 7. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 30th at 11 at St. Henry, with visitation one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill's honor to Father Ryan High School, St. Henry Catholic Church, or the American Cancer Society.
