William Edward Halley

He is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Winifred W. Halley; sons Wm Michael (Donna) Halley, Harry Edward (Adaline) Halley and J. Richard Halley; and grandchildren Patrick M. (Stevi) Halley, William D. Halley and Catherine G. Halley.

William Halley’s remarkable life spanned childhood horse drawn carriage rides to discussions of manned flight to Mars. He was in the first graduating class of East Nashville High School, graduated from the University of Tennessee with a BA in Electrical Engineering, worked n the bomber industry during WWII and spent the rest of his working career in the design section of the Corps of Engineers, Nashville Division. His fellow Tennesseans have benefitted and continue to benefit from William’s and his co-workers’ life work.

His loss to his loved ones and friends cannot be measured but his memory will be held in our minds and hearts always.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in William Halley’s name to Harpeth Presbyterian Church, 3077 Hillsboro Road, Brentwood, TN 37027.

Services will be conducted by Pastor Craig Pope at Harpeth Presbyterian Church on Saturday January 20, 2018, at 12:00 PM. The family will welcome visitors starting at 11:00 AM. Interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park will follow their service.
