After an extremely long battle with heart and kidney disease, our beloved father, Alberto “Bert” Reyes went to be with our Lord on January 28, 2025 at Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista at the age of 76.
Bert is a gift of life. Born on April 6, 1948 in Subic, Zambales, Philippines, he lived a life full of passion and courageous adventure. He is a hardworking and dedicated photographer for more than 50 years in his hometown. He is well known as “Bert’s Studio”. He captures every special moment with his camera so that memories will forever be engraved in our hearts. His life was filled with kindness, joy, and lots of laughter leaving behind an indelible mark on everyone.
Bert is a gift of love. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Zenie. They met in Subic, got married on December 24, 1972 in St. James Parish Church and started a family. They just celebrated their golden anniversary and renewed their wedding vows in St. Michael’s Catholic Church last February 11, 2023. They successfully raised their family by exercising their mutual understanding of family values and strong Catholic faith.
Bert is a gift of family. He is a loving father of two and a caring grandfather to his five grandchildren whom he adored and has brought him immense joy and pride. His greatest passion was caring for his grandchildren and always showering them with love, wisdom, and kindness. He also treats everyone around him as family. He is not just a good friend but also a brother, a Kuya, a Manong, a Tatay, a Tatang, an Uncle, a Tito, and a Lolo. He taught us the importance of hard work, integrity, and compassion. His legacy will live on through the values he instilled in us and the countless memories we shared.
Though he is no longer with us, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us every day. His warm heart, unwavering dedication to his family, and joyful spirit will always be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Our family is truly grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
