

Jose was born on May 10, 1927 at a house in Jalisco, Mexico. He was the son of Maria Matilde Madrigal and Librado Onofre. Jose grew up in Jalisco, Mexico.
Jose was raised with four siblings. He had three sisters, Maria de Jesus, Angelita, and Lupe, and one brother Librado. Jose was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young boy, Jose had a number of interests. Like most children, he enjoyed playing and making up games. He was curious about the world around him and was often eager to explore it. Jose was an active child who took part in jump rope and hide and seek. In his spare time he liked read books. Jose's memorable achievements included balero to put in the hole. However, to Jose, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with his friends.
Always considered a “good” friend to those he knew, Jose enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during his lifetime. Later in life, he became friends with Antonio Garcia Morales.
On November 28, 1986 Jose exchanged wedding vows with Antonia Garcia Herrera at Catedral de Guadalupe of Tijuana Baja California. Empathic and loyal, Jose was committed to making his new family happy.
Fortunately, Jose enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Jose worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was el campo. He was employed for 8 years cleaning parking lots and 2 years in hotel. Jose always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Jose enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were riding horses. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Jose found pleasure in sports. In high school, Jose played playing cards. Jose was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite events whenever he had the chance to do so. Tops on his list were wrestling.
Jose was a man who took pride in upholding his beliefs. So it is little wonder that he took an active role in his community, serving on committees for the EHC. Politically, Jose was a supporter of the Democratic Party, he voted for Hillary Clinton.
Jose’s faith was important to him. He was a member church of Guadalupe 20 years. During that time, he was went to spiritual retreats.
Though he never set out to gain individual recognition, Jose was given accolades for his many and varied accomplishments throughout his life. Some of his most prestigious awards included volunteer in giving out food.
Jose enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for him to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included going to Nayarit.
Jose was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of his favorites was Horses. They were best friends for 18 years.
When Jose’s retirement finally arrived in 1990, he was well prepared. His new life involved relocating to San Diego, CA. Even in retirement, Jose continued to stay in touch with his old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. Jose was active in his new community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities retirement offered him.
Jose passed away on July 29, 2016 at Coronado Sharp Hospital. Infection in stomach and kidney did not function any more. Services were held at National City- Chula Vista Mortuary and Cremation Services. Jose was laid to rest in Cypressview Cementary in San Diego, CA.
Simply stated, Jose was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Jose leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories.
