Sergio A. Martinez, age 38, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Sun Valley, California, Sergio lived a life marked by hard work, creativity, and deep devotion to family.
He worked in excavation as a skilled heavy equipment operator, known especially for his precision behind the controls of a backhoe. Outside of work, Sergio was passionate about technology — he loved building drones and modifying electric scooters just to see how fast he could make them go.
A true giver at heart, Sergio would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. His greatest love was his children — Vanessa, Nathan, Jeremiah, Alexa, and Mikaela — and he carried deep love for them always.
Sergio had a close bond with his nieces and nephews — especially his nephew Maximus, son of his brother Cesar. He also deeply loved Ashley, Jacob, Sheyla, Elijah, and Isaac, children of his oldest brother Juan Jr.
He found joy in simple things — playing video games like Halo, Need for Speed, and Midnight Club with his brothers and nephews; cracking a good joke here and there; and simply being with those he loved. His heart was big, his loyalty strong, and his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior never wavered.
Sergio is survived by his father Juan Martinez, mother Anna Ledezma, and brothers Juan Martinez Jr., Luis Martinez, and Cesar Martinez; his aunt Hilda Hernandez and her son Alfonso Hernandez; and many other family and friends who loved him. He is preceded in death by his fraternal grandparents Jose Luis and Alejandra Martinez.
Services for Sergio will be held under the care of Funeraria del Angel National City.
Sergio’s light, laughter, and love will live on in all who knew him.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
