It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of Alf (Alfie) Olivier, on March 11th, 2013, at the age of 68 years.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife, Diane, of 45 years, his son, Kevin, his daughter, Kerri-Anne Uruski (Trevor), and his 2 grandchildren, Katarina and Anton Uruski. Also, one brother; Denis (Henriette), three sisters; Agnes (Jules) Prefontaine; Rita (Ted) White and Suzanne (Roy) Fraser; brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws and many nephews and nieces.
Alf was predeceased by his father and mother, Arthur and Dina Olivier; two brothers, Aimé and Raymond.
Alf was born and raised in St. Boniface and attended St. Boniface College as well as Red River College where he earned his Journeyman’s Mechanics degree. At 20 years old, he went to Edmonton, and became a City of Edmonton Police Officer. During this time, Diane and he were married. When they returned to Winnipeg, Alf then started his salesman’s career – a job he absolutely enjoyed. He worked as a Sales Manager for Purolator Products and later Arvin-Meritor and worked for 30 years. He was very well respected in his field.
Alf was a wonderful, jovial person who always had a joke or more to make people laugh. He had such wonderful friendships with so many people and business associates.
Alf also loved his hobby of model-railroading, going out every Sunday with Kevin, taking pictures of trains, then modeling those same trains. To sum up Alf, two words come to mind – laughter and fun. Alf and Diane had a “dreams-of” marriage and she will miss him dearly, along with Kevin and Kerri-Anne, whom he cherished and was so proud of.
A celebration of Alf’s life will be held on Saturday, March.16, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East at Navin Road.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Parkinson’s Society of Manitoba or to your favorite charity.
Many heartfelt thanks to Dr. Darcy Johnson for his constant involvement and care. Also, thanks to the staff of Concordia Hospital and especially to our angel, Terri.
